JFSA TODAY: From Purim Joy to Passover Support

At JFSA, holidays are more than moments on the calendar—they are opportunities to connect, celebrate, and support one another.
JFSA’s Cleveland Chesed Center once again helped ensure that local families and individuals could celebrate Passover with dignity, connection, and support. With the help of over 100 dedicated volunteers, the Chesed Center distributed kosher-for-Passover essentials to more than 750 families through its annual drive-thru pickup event.
Community volunteers—including those from B’nai Jeshurun, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, students from Yeshiva Derech HaTorah, Hebrew Academy along with current and former JFSA board members—worked together to pack and distribute food. In addition, JFSA staff delivered packages directly to home care and nursing home clients, ensuring that even those unable to travel could fully participate in the holiday.
“As food prices continue to rise, Pesach can put an extra financial burden on families,” said Rabbi Avrohom Adler, Executive Director of the Chesed Center. “We urge people not to shy away from asking for help—that is what the Center is here for.”
JFSA also hosted a Passover seder for older adults, offering an opportunity for connection, tradition, and community. Residents of JFSA’s group homes participated in festive holiday celebrations, bringing warmth and joy to those who might otherwise feel isolated.
Purim celebrations were also in full swing for JFSA clients. Our older adults enjoyed a Purim party with a special visit from Queen Esther brought to life by JFSA Community Events Coordinator, Noah Budin. PLAN and Horvitz YouthAbility participants celebrated by dressing in costume.
Additionally, over 70 campers and their families gathered for a Summer Campership reunion at Whirly Ball, enjoying Purim handouts, hamantaschen, and a fun-filled afternoon.
