More than 140 people attended JFSA’s Annual Meeting on December 1 which celebrated the agency’s 140 years of serving the community. The noteworthy anniversary was highlighted by a special historical exhibit showcasing many impressive JFSA milestones throughout the years.

The evening marked the installation of new Board Chair Harvey Kotler. Harvey was unanimously elected Board Chair while immediate past Board Chair Phil Cohen accepted the position of Life Director. During Phil’s tenure JFSA established Alyson’s Place, JFSA’s Medical Clinic providing primary health care and hosted two successful Signature Events. Don Jacobson was also named a JFSA Life Director during the meeting. Don was first elected to the Board in 2005. A trusted and well respected member, he has been selected as a Special Advisor to the Board by three different Board Chairs. In his record-setting ten years as co-chair of the JFSA Annual Campaign, Don has been responsible for generating close to $400,000 over the past decade.
The celebratory evening also included a special presentation to Horvitz YouthAbility volunteer Linda Chapman who was awarded the 2015 Samuel S. Greenberg Leadership Award by the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services. Each year the award honors a lay leader who exhibits significant support to the Jewish community. Linda is recognized for her extraordinary dedication and commitment to the Horvitz YouthAbility program.
