Department JFSA Care at Home 
Description

-Assists with and encourage client participation with activities of daily living to include but not limited to, bathing, dressing, ambulation and exercise.

-Assists client with ambulation, including lifting and transfers as appropriate.

-Assists with medications that are self administered by the client.

-Assists with light housekeeping and laundry.

-Assists in meal preparation and feeding of client as necessary

-Assists in client transportation when appropriate.

-Insures a safe and sanitary environment.

-Insures safe care of client?s clothing and valuables.

-Reports all changes in client?s condition to nursing supervisor and/or program director.

-Provides documentation that is compliant with agency, state and federal regulations.

-Utilizes Universal Precautions.

-Attends 8-12 hours of in-service education annually. Successfully completes First Aid and CPR training every two years.

-Assists CAH?s office based and management staff on an as needed basis, with administrative processes and procedures. Provides basic clerical support that includes but is not limited to the following tasks: taking and distributing messages; photocopying, scanning and faxing; receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail; compiling records of office activities; maintaining filing systems; reviewing files and records to answer requests; organizing meetings and appointments. Additional duties may include answering and directing telephones and some data entry.

 
Skills

-High school diploma or GED. Successfully completed the nurse aide competency evaluation program conducted by the Ohio Department of Health without a 24 month lapse in employment or has received provider agency training and testing. Testing shall include written test and skills testing by return demonstration.

-Two years of satisfactory experience in the community or health care setting within the last three years and scheduling in a home care environment. Experience with a Hoyer Lift in order to assist with patient transfer preferred. Minimum of 6 months clerical experience.

-Maintain both a valid Ohio Drivers License, and a driving record that meets JFSA?s insurance company standards (e.g. less than 2 incidents over a 3 year period).

-Maintain personal auto liability insurance at the level that the Agency and the insurance carrier requires.

-Must have a reliable personal automobile or reliable transportation available on a daily basis in order to travel throughout CAH?s service area.

-Current TB test or chest x-ray.

Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

-STNA Certification Preferred.

-Must be flexible in working any hours/shifts and various locations on an as needed basis.

-The ability to safely transfer clients

Willingness to learn how to operate a Hoyer Lift

-Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices, equipment (e.g. computer, fax machines, printers), telephone etiquette, etc

-Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, integrity and discretion in CAH?s administrative office environment

-Ability to multitask and work well in a team environment

-Exercise good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority and care in administrative detail
